ImageI was going to post information in my blog about my experiences with the FTP Academy. But, if you follow the link below you will see it ended up HUGE!

My Post on the FTP Academy appears to have been lost in the transition to the "New Forum". If I find it I'll fix this link. Or if I think it can be reposted without much effort on my part, I will.

So, I thought it would be better to put it in it's own thread:

Full Tilt Poker Academy

Well I played in the FTPA $5K Freeroll today (August 9th). Pretty low number in it and sweet payouts:

Image

I finished ITM in 49th--just 4 from next money jump. I'm okay with $20.

I went deep in the Monday night 7.5K guarantee. But that has been the exception--not the norm.

I've been putting a lot of time in playing the cash games at Full Tilt Poker this month. I have been clearing out the Academy Challenges. I have collected over 10,000 points so far. I accepted the $100 Bonus Dollars offer "Biggest Bonus Ever" that for me expires on 8-29-2009 at 18:10.

Here is the breakdown of points I have earned each day of August (I think these include happy hour points):

day-points

| 01-64.88 | 11-18.09 | 21-43.02
| 02-65.62 | 12-37.46 | 22-72.82
| 03-29.98 | 13-28.59 | 23-73.07
| 04-24.10 | 14-30.80 | 24-14.65 too tired to play
| 05-33.73 | 15-61.59 | 25-14.06 too tired to play again
| 06-79.27 | 16-78.42 | 26-12.42 notice a pattern
| 07-28.99 | 17-35.98 | 27-24.01
| 08-63.26 | 18-18.74 | 28-71.53
| 09-74.92 | 19-75.82 | 29-168.96
| 10-26.19 | 20-86.78 |Total-1457.75

As of 5pm 08-29-2009, I have earned $90.06($90 has been released).

08-29-2009 9:28 am--approximately 9 hours left. I need 139.28 points to convert the next $10. I was absolutely worn out Mon-Thurs of this week. Had I felt like playing at all those days I might be thinking that I could convert the last of the $100. Instead, I'll be lucky to get the 139 points in 9 hours. At the same time losing $20 while converting $10 would definitely suck.

08-29-2009 2:15pm--it's been a long session so far. I need 56 more points for $10--I might just be able to do this in the next 4.5 hours. I definitely will not be able to convert the last of the $100. But, I think 90 out of 100 isn't bad.

08-29-2009 5pm--I'm done! After spending 8-9 hours on 3-4 .05/10 NLHE tables at a time I converted $10 today. I converteda total of $90 of the $100 bonus. When I switched over to te cash tables to work on the bonus I had $67. At this point I sit at $195.

During this process, about mid-way through, I had a downward spiral of $20-30. This made me wonder if I was going give it all back. Bonuses are nice, but you never really want to do less than break even poker when playing to convert a bonus.

I don't think I would have stayed at that table.

Evidently FTP is out to increase rake and get people to multi-table. Well, playing more than one table is no problem for me. Since I earn 1 point a day at Full Tilt anyhow, you better believe I accepted this one!

Here is the details from the Full Tilt site:

Earn up to $50 AND double the number of Full Tilt Points you’d normally receive, during Take 2.

Take 2 runs from Tuesday, September 1st to Wednesday, September 30th. By playing at least two ring-game tables at the same time during Take 2, you’ll earn double Full Tilt Points on both tables. Play as often as you can during September and you’ll be rewarded with cash, up to $50, depending on the number of days you play.

Learn more about Take 2 or check out all the details on the Rules page.

Thank You Terminal Frost (via illphilllll ---thanks illl!!!) for the heads-up on this promotion!

Dear TBDBITL,

In order to maintain your status as a Player, you must accumulate 50 Status Points per month. Unfortunately, you did not meet your monthly requirement. As a result, we are changing your Player status and all of its exclusive benefits.

Luckily, all is not lost. Based on your performance last month, we are granting you Member status, which includes several valuable perks. If you wish to regain all the benefits of your previous level, simply accumulate enough Status Points over the coming month. We look forward to recognizing you as a Player again soon.

If there is anything else we can help you with, please let us know. We are always more than happy to assist you.

Sincerely,

Team UltimateBet ~ Customer Support

Dear UB Support,

The number of players at your site has decreased significantly since I have been playing at UB. Poker sites are being very competitive to gain players and keep players. In this past year I have felt that UB has had no desire to be fair to or cater to its customers.

While you took away my Bonus Dollars without warning, other sites are offering No Deposit Incentives. Full Tilt gave me 30 days to convert a $100 bonus--I converted and received $90 of that bonus last month at their cash tables. This coming month, just by earning a Full Tilt Point a day playing at two cash tables at the same time for 25 days they are going to give me $50 in cash.

While I will still play forum events and some other tournaments on UB this coming month, because of what I mentioned above I cannot see playing at UB ring games and getting nothing in return for the rake that is collected.

Thanks for the support I have received and the site you were in the past. I hope that you can be that same site of old in the near future.

Sincerely,
tbdbitl

...... Here's their response:

Quote:
Thank you for contacting us.

We understand your position; however note that releasing Bonus Dollars is not as hard as it seems, in fact it was made in accordance to industry standards and it's more liberal than other sites.

Bonus release works as follows:

On Tournaments for every $0.30 in entry fees you pay you will get one Status Point.

On ring games you need to play a specific amount of raked hands depending on the tourney stakes to receive a Status Point, you can find the chart at http://www.ultimatebet.com/raise-loyalty/earn-climb/status-points.

We recommend you to take a look at the chat so you can find the tourney Stakes that are more suitable to earn Status Points. Once you better understand which Stakes are the best you will find it is actually easier to release the Bonus Dollars than other companies in the industry.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if there is anything else we can do for you.

Best regards,

Carolina

Dear support,

You missed my point completely. My email wasn't about how to convert Bonus Dollars. It was about UB STEALING Bonus Dollars from their customers without telling them. And, while UB was busy ripping off customers, other companies were giving Bonus money away without having to make another deposit. I would have worked on converting had I known UB WAS GOING TO TAKE THEM. So, instead of UB getting my rake, Full Tilt Poker did (over $1500 in rake in my ring games).

And, like I said before, thanks for the support I have received and the site you were in the past. I hope that you can be that same site of old in the near future.

Sincerely,
tbdbitl

And, exactly the reponse I expected:

Quote:
Thank you for contacting us.

We are very sorry you feel this way; however, note that as per our terms and conditions Bonus Dollars expire 60 days after they were credited. Note that these policies must be applied to our players without exceptions.

For more information, please visit this link:

http://www.ultimatebet.com/poker-rewards-loyalty-program/bonus-dollars

Please do not hesitate to contact us if there is anything else we can do for you.

Best regards,

Carolina
Customer Support Department
UltimateBet.com

Carolina,

1. UB never used to expire their Bonus Dollars.
2. UB never had clearly marked when they expired like ALL the other poker sites.
3. UB just started the practice this spring.
4. UB never informed customers with Bonus Dollars they were going to be taken away or "expire".
5. It was almost six months after I deposited that UB took away my Bonus Dollars without notice of this change.

Can you blame myself or anyone else for feeling this way?

If UB was really sorry that I or anyone else felt this way they would have returned the points they took and informed the customers that they would expire in 60 days.

My intent was not to have a long drawn out exchange, AGAIN, about how lame it was that UB did this to it's players. My intent was to inform UB why I didn't play the ring games after I received my demotion email.

Again, I hope that some day the UB I used to know, used to promote, used to defend, will crawl out of the hole it has buried itself in and I can be proud to say I play at UB.

Good Luck UB and I hope to be playing on your site more than occasionally in the future.

Sincerely,
tbdbitl

After all the emails back and forth with UB and never feeling that they understood why I was upset, here is their last totally unexpected response:

Quote:
Thank you for your email.

Note that in accordance to our terms and conditions, promotions are subject to changes. Therefore, the new terms will apply to all the players equally.

We understand your concern, and we are willing to make a one time exception and give you 50% of the expired Bonus Dollars. You have been credited with $40.50 Bonus Dollars to release.

Do not hesitate to contact us if there is anything else we can do for you.

Best regards,

Carolina

It is going to take 100 status points to convert $5. I may not even convert $5 of it, but at least UB FINALLY conceded and tried to make things right. While I am not going to be playing as long at FTP ring games this month, I will try to multitable at UB to see what I can do.

Thanks UB!

And, hopefully the last email to support from me on this issue:

Dear Carolina,

Thank you so much for your time and consideration. It is greatly appreciated. I see that there still is no indication in the cashier window as to when the bonus dollars will expire. It would be a great addition if UB would note beside the bonus dollars when they expire.

Since there isn't an indication can you give me the date and time they will expire?

While it doesn’t completely wipe out the days of painful exchanges I had with support when I first contacted UB back when the bonus dollars disappeared or the disbelief that UB wasn’t going to do anything to make things right. Your prompt emails and responses did help me realize that maybe UB support is still very quick to try to resolve its customer’s issues.

I appreciate all that you did, in your power, to make things right.

Sincerely,

tbdbitl

---------------------------------

Okay I couldn't leave it alone. I went back through all of my UB emails on this topic and looked at all of the links that they kept sending me while they told me that bonus dollars expired was all in the terms of service.

Well I found nowhere in any of the UB links that said that Bonus Dollars ever expire. What I found was only in the emails that were sent. And, in July I was told they expire in 90 days. In September they said 60 days.

I've sent this follow-up question:

"Can you send me the terms and conditions link that states that Bonus Dollars expire and after how long?"

I'll post the link that they send when I get a response.

What do you know they couldn't give me a link. I guess the UB terms of service can change without notice and they don't even have to put it in writing when they do:

Quote:
Thank you for contacting us again.

Please be informed that bonus dollars expire 60 days after they were credited. We will be updating our site with the corresponding information.

And yet another Ace rag player goes down in flames. He doesn't even have the excuse of being in the blinds.

Full Tilt

Since there are no subtantial FTP promotions, it's back to playing SnGs and working on the FTP Academy Challenges. I registered for the Ivey promotion, but it is not worth playing outside of my normal game selections.

Poker Stars

I have cut down on the number of Donkeyfests during the week. I will be looking for a level of SnGs to play on a regular basis. However, I will keep the buy-in between $1-3.

Ultimate Bet

I am back to playing one .25/.50 Ring Game at a time when I play there. UB gave me back half of my Bonus $$, but I have found that UB is the hardest, of what I consider to be the Big Three (Stars/FTP/UB), to convert Bonus $$$ at the micro stakes. So, I probably will end up not converting much of them.

At the rest of the "wanna be" poker sites I will only be playing Forum Buy-ins, Leagues, and freerolls.

Good Luck to All on the Felt!
